Assault charge: Jason Spencer, 39, of 519 Franklin Ave., was arrested for simple assault and harassment stemming from a dispute at his home Monday. Police said they arrived to find Jennifer Spencer with a red mark and swelling on her face. She told police her husband struck her and also smashed his daughter’s guitar. Jason Spencer was arraigned before District Judge David Mark and placed in the Washington County jail on $1,000 straight bond.

Mailbox vandalized: Kim Banik of Avella reported her mailbox at 1959 Avella Road was smashed Saturday. State police investigated the criminal mischief case.

Wallet stolen: James Thomas of 1048 Scenic Drive, Coal Center, reported to police that his wallet was stolen while he was in Walmart Monday afternoon. Thomas said he placed the wallet in his shopping cart while placing an order at the deli and turned around to find it gone.

Theft: Washington police will charge Freddie Kimbrew, 28, of 44 W. Spruce St., and Zach Maier, 29, of 459 Malone Ridge Road, Canton Township, with breaking into two vehicles in the Mr. Gyros parking lot early Sunday.

Furniture stolen: Randy Boardley, 54, of 879 Ewing St., told police that Renee Scholato, 45, of 1381 Allison Ave., removed several pieces of furniture from his apartment while he was working and refused to return it.
