CHARDON, Ohio – A judge in northeast Ohio will allow jurors to hear incriminating statements made by an 18-year-old charged in a school shooting rampage that killed three students.

Judge David Fuhry in Chardon ruled Monday the prosecution may use the statements at next month’s murder trial of T.J. Lane.

The judge says Lane voluntarily waived his right to remain silent and wasn’t subjected to police intimidation or coercion.

Investigators say Lane admitted shooting at students but couldn’t say why.

He faces a maximum sentence of life in prison without parole if convicted of the shootings in the Chardon High School cafeteria last February.

Lane is being tried as an adult and has filed an insanity plea.
