For a fifth year, George Dodworth, president of Lightwave International, will be presenting his Christmas Laser Spectacular at Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church.

As always, proceeds from the event will be used to help needy individuals and families in the local community.

“We pack more equipment, millions of dollars of lasers for most shows, into the church sanctuary,” said Dodworth of the holiday music and laser program at his church. “I think we really undersell the event. The average person reading about the show will just expect a small church performance and probably dismiss it, but it’s far from anything they have seen before. The people who attend the shows are likely seeing brand new effects or equipment that we have not yet launched for the big artists.”

And Dodworth knows plenty about the big artists. Lightwave International’s lasers have been featured in many concert tours. Currently, the Bridgeville company is working with tours by The Killers, Pretty Lights, Ghostland Observatory and DreamWorks’ “How to Train Your Dragon Live Spectacular.” The company has worked previously with Madonna, Rihanna and Tom Petty, and also was featured at this year’s Light Up Night celebration in Pittsburgh.

Dodworth is donating his time and equipment for the Canonsburg shows, which will be held at 6 and 7:30 p.m. Friday and 6 p.m. Saturday. Seats can be reserved by picking up tickets at the church office at 112 West Pike St. between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. through Friday, or at www.stubmatic.com/lasershow. There is no charge for the tickets, but an offering will be taken at each show, with donations of $10 for adults and $5 for children encouraged. All of the donations will be used for charitable purposes.
