WAYNESBURG – A man convicted last year of indecent assault of a person under the age of 13 was charged Tuesday by state police with failing to comply with registration requirements under the state’s Megan’s Law.

Robert William Kronk, 22, was charged with one felony count of failure to provide accurate information when registering under the law.

He was arraigned before District Judge Glenn Bates and placed in the Greene County jail on $25,000 bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 27.

Kronk was convicted by a Greene County jury in January 2011 of indecent assault on a person under the age of 13 and indecent exposure.

He had been arrested in June of that year and accused of having sexual contact with a boy at a home in Monongahela Township between Oct. 1, 2009, and March 31, 2010.

Police said they were alerted to the crime by a relative of the boy who had come to the house and witnessed the assault.

The jury found Kronk guilty of a pattern of indecent assault with the boy. He was found not guilty of charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and engaging in sexual intercourse with a person under the age of 13.

Kronk was sentenced in April 2011 to 8 to 23 1/2 months in jail. Though the state’s sexual offender assessment board determined Kronk was not a sexual violent predator, he was required to register his address with police because of the conviction.

State police allege that is something he recently failed to do for about two months.

On Sept. 12, Kronk registered with state police, listing his address as 202 Ridge Road, Jefferson, according to the criminal complaint. On Dec. 10, however, police were informed Kronk was not living at that address.

Kronk was interviewed Dec. 17 and told police he had moved out of the residence in mid-October and for a time didn’t have a permanent address.

He also said he recently moved back to 202 Ridge Road and had been staying there for the last week or two. He also said he was aware he is required to provide police with a new address within 48 hours.

Unrelated charges were filed against Kronk Monday by Cumberland Township police.

They charged him with theft and receiving stolen property for allegedly stealing an all-terrain vehicle from a home in Crucible that day.

The township’s complaint lists Kronk’s address as the Route 21 Mobile Home Park, Carmichaels.
