A former Canonsburg man will stand trial on charges he sexually assaulted a 23-year-old woman over a 10-year span, beginning when she was 4 years old.
Richard Anton Rupar, 60, of 100 St. Andrews Lane, Myrtle Beach, S.C., is charged with two counts each of indecent assault and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, and one count each of endangering the welfare of a child and corruption of minors.
Rupar Wednesday waived his right to a preliminary hearing before District Judge Gary Halvelka in Washington County Central Court. Rupar was charged by Canonsburg police after the woman went to the Washington County District Attorney’s Domestic and Sex Crimes Unit after telling her family she had been sexually assaulted by the man from January 1993 to December 2003.
According to a police report, Rupar would force the girl to perform oral sex on him and would force her to take showers with him.
Rupar is being held in the Washington County jail on $100,000 bond.
