Cross Creek Pedestrian struck: State police said an Avella man was struck by a driver Thursday afternoon while he was attempting to cross Browntown Road in Cross Creek Township. According to police, Joseph A. Miller, 46, was struck at 4:30 p.m. by a car driven by Louis Kaposy, 93, also of Avella, about 400 feet northwest of Campbell Drive. Miller, who received moderate injuries, was transported to a Pittsburgh hospital. Police said Kaposy was charged in the accident.
Buffalo Cause undetermined: A state police fire marshal said the cause of a blaze Sunday morning that caused severe damage to a garage in Buffalo Township is undetermined. The fire marshal was called at 7:30 a.m. to the scene by Taylorstown fire Chief Joshua McDonough. Police said a three-bay, one-story garage of block construction at 470 Kelly Road sustained $100,000 in damages to the structure and contents. The garage is owned by Wayne and Kathie Hunnell of Washington. Taylorstown VFD was assisted by firefighters from Claysville, South Franklin, North Franklin and Canton townships. There were no injuries. Police, who said their investigation is continuing, are asking anyone with information to call 724-223-5200.
Union Fence damaged: Southwest Regional police said Michael Young of 89 McChain Road in Union Township reported July 22 that he saw a dark-colored Jeep Liberty traveling at a high speed swerve and hit his fence, causing damage to the property. The incident occurred about 3 a.m. Anyone with information on the incident should call police at 724-929-8484.
