FRANKLIN Crash: A car being driven by Charles A. Toland, 40, of Jefferson, was traveling west on Kirby Road June 9 when it left the road, hit a guardrail, crossed the road and stopped in a yard, police said. Toland fled the scene, but was later found by officers. He sustained no injuries.
WASHINGTON Three injured: James Franklin Wells, 50, of Benton, Ark., Jeremy Lee Campbell, 30, of Belington, W.Va., and another unidentified male sustained serious injuries in a vehicle crash in the northbound lane of Interstate 79 about 12:30 a.m. Sunday, police said. The car overturned several times when it failed to negotiate a left turn in the road. Witnesses said the vehicle was traveling at an excessive speed. The driver has not yet been determined. All three were flown to Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
WAYNESBURG Two charged: A Waynesburg couple was charged after becoming involved in a fight at 11 p.m.Friday on Greene Street, Waynesburg police said.
Steven W. Turner, 18, who allegedly resisted arrest and shoved a patrolman, was charged with aggravated assault, harassment, resisting arrest, public drunkenness, underage drinking and disorderly conduct, according to police. Carly Ann Loughman, 21, was charged with public drunkenness, police said.
Marijuana found: A Waynesburg woman was charged with disorderly conduct after being found with a small amount of marijuana and a bowl for smoking marijuana, Waynesburg police said. Nichole Parrish, 19, was a passenger in a vehicle stopped for a traffic violation at 10 p.m. Friday. The borough police dog, Dagen, indicated drugs were in the vehicle. Parrish also will be charged with underage drinking, police said.
