American Legion to mark Veterans Day
Filer-Sadlek Post 954, the American Legion, Jefferson, will hold its annual Veterans Day parade and program Nov. 12.
Units participating in the parade will assemble at Jefferson Fire Company at approximately 10:15 a.m., and the parade will move out at approximately 10:50 a.m., stopping in front of the American Legion Post Home at 11 a.m., where there will be a 21-gun salute to the dead.
The parade will then resume and march to Jefferson-Morgan High School.
At approximately 11:30 a.m., a program will be held, with Kerrie G. Gill Sr., past Pennsylvania department commander of John F. Kennedy Post 377, California, as the key speaker.
Following the program, officers of Post 954 will conduct a Post Everlasting ceremony, where the records of those members of Post 954 who passed away since last Nov. 11 will be transferred to the Post Everlasting.
The public is invited to attend.
