Police obtain warrant for man in hotel threat

State police have obtained an arrest warrant for a Washington man accused of threatening a clerk at a Canton Township motel last month.
Ryan Martel “Nice” Brown, 23, whose last known address was 135 Jollick Manor, is accused of pointing a gun in the early morning hours of Oct. 5 at a clerk at America’s Best Value Inn, West Chestnut Street.
The clerk who was working the desk told police he had received about four calls from a man who wanted the room number for “Jessica.” When the clerk told him that he could not give out that information, the caller became more and more demanding with each call.
About 2 a.m., the clerk saw a car driving slowly through the parking lot and then drive across the street to a convenience store. Ten minutes later, a man later identified as Brown entered the lobby of the motel. He asked for Jessica’s room number, and the clerk told him that he could not provide that information.
When Brown told the clerk he was going to start knocking on doors looking for her, the clerk said he would call police. After questioning the clerk about calling police, Brown then pointed the gun at the clerk and reportedly threatened to shoot him, police said.
State police obtained surveillance video from the store and showed it to Washington police, who helped identify Brown. The clerk was able to identify Brown in a photo line-up.
District Judge David Mark issued the warrant for Brown on charges of aggravated assault, carrying a firearm without a license, simple assault, terroristic threats and recklessly endangering another person.
