Community Action Southwest is recruiting volunteers in Washington and Greene counties to tutor students in its adult education program. The program is designed to assist area residents age 17 or older to obtain their general equivalency disploma or increase their learning skills so they may enroll in a trade school or college or gain employment.

Volunteers are needed to assist certified teachers with classes in Burgettstown, Carmichaels, Donora, Washington and Waynesburg. Classes are held on various days and times each week in those communities.

Volunteers can also assist with tutoring students outside of the classroom through individual sessions at area libraries.

Training will be provided and volunteers will be asked to tutor students in subjects in which they are comfortable, ranging from reading, writing, spelling and math.

Volunteers must either have a bachelor’s degree or be actively pursuing a four-year degree at a college or university.

For additional information or to volunteer, please call Chris at 877-814-0788 extension 528.
