A Cecil Township man charged in a string of copper and other thefts across Washington County waived his burglary and theft case to Washington County Court on Wednesday, rather than have a preliminary hearing in Central Court.

Rory Allen Kriest Jr., 23, of 20 Old Orchard Lane, was among nine people arrested in December by McDonald police in the thefts from barns, houses, storage sheds and businesses in Cecil, Chartiers and Robinson townships.

Kriest, who has been in federal custody on a probation violation, was also charged in the case with receiving stolen property, criminal conspiracy, trespassing, criminal mischief and loitering and prowling at night.

He was returned Wednesday to Washington County Jail on $10,000 bond.
