UNIONTOWN – Fire wasn’t the only thing emergency crews found when a Western Pennsylvania home went up in smoke.

Uniontown police say they found marijuana and drug paraphernalia, which is why 26-year-old Latisha Bryant remained in the Fayette County Jail Wednesday, unable to post bond on drug-related charges.

Police officers who arrived to assist with a Saturday afternoon fire at Bryant’s home say they saw several small plastic bags of suspected marijuana on the porch and found more suspected pot when they returned with a search warrant. Police say they also found a stolen laptop computer.

Online court records don’t list an attorney for Bryant, who faces a preliminary hearing Nov. 20.

Police say Bryant claimed to know nothing about the marijuana and told them “some girl” had asked her to hold onto the laptop for a few days.
