People looking for a job or a career, including those with disabilities, should plan to attend an employment expo sponsored by Pennsylvania CareerLink of Greene County Wednesday at the Waynesburg Readiness Center, 500 Evergreene Drive, Waynesburg.
The expo, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., will be slightly different from employment expos held in the past, being a job fair with not only employers and schools that provide educational training but also social service agencies and vendors of adaptive equipment to help those with disabilities enter the workforce.
Examples of the equipment may include equipment that makes it possible for a person with a disability to drive a car, as well as equipment that enhances a person’s hearing or vision.
The event is free to job seekers as well as employers.
Employers will be on hand offering a wide range of skilled, unskilled and professional positions. Job seekers can come with resume in hand ready to meet and talk with employers.
Pennsylvania CareerLink of Greene County also will have its mobile computer lab on site for those who want to apply for jobs that require electronic applications. Careerlink staff will be available to assist those who need help in applying.
In addition, representatives of the Small Business Administration will be present for those who would like to start their own business; representatives of the state Civil Service Commission will be there for people interested in working for state government.
This expo is sponsored and produced with funds from the CMC Medicaid Infrastructure Grant.
Companies and organizations that have already registered to participate include:
