The new Waynesburg Community Center, 1505 Morris St., will celebrate its roots in the old senior center, which stood on North Richhill Street until it was razed last summer, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday. Jim Randolph collected building materials he turned into mementos. There will be a showing of jewelry, candleholders and a bench he made from the materials including: Glass, tile, wood (including walnut from the tree that stood in the back yard), slate and marble. The event is open to everyone who wants to see and/or purchase these items. For more information, email mystudior@windstream.net or call 724-852-6363.

A free clothing give-away will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Aleppo Brethren Church. Small household items also will be available.

Shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child will be received from now through Sunday at the relay center at Oak View United Methodist Church. Call Nicki Strayer at 724-883-4020 for drop-off times and information.
