The solicitor for the Canon-McMillan School District announced his resignation Monday night.
Michael Lucas, who has served as the district’s solicitor since he was appointed in fall 2008, told the board of his intentions. The board’s Dec. 3 reorganization meeting will be his last.
Lucas, with the law firm Bassi, Vreeland & Associates, said he is planning other pursuits in the coming year and did not feel he could devote as much time and effort that the district deserves.
“We’ve enjoyed a very good relationship with the board and the administration over there. It’s a wonderful district,” Lucas said Tuesday.
The school district is expected to name the law firm of Peacock Keller as legal counsel on Dec. 3.
Superintendant Michael Daniels did not immediately return a telephone call seeking comment Tuesday.
