Classes for aspiring cake decorators and tole painters offered

The Greene County Department of Recreation has scheduled two seasonal classes at the Greene County Fairgrounds for November and December. A holiday cake decorating class and a tole painting class will be offered to the public.
Instructor Yvonne Lee of Carmichaels will lead a class in the art of holiday cake decorating. The class will focus on cakes and cupcakes for holiday events and will feature hands-on instruction for using buttercream icing and fondant. Attendees will decorate cupcakes to take home and must provide their own large container to transport them. Supplies are included in the $25 class fee. Aprons are not provided but are recommended, as well as wearing comfortable shoes.
The class will be held in the lower level of the 4H building from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 28. Pre-registration is required. The deadline to pre-register will be Nov. 26.
Instructor Renee Imhoff of Carmichaels will lead the holiday tole painting class, instructing on how to paint this traditional folk art on wood and tin objects. Supplies are included in the $25 class fee but participants are encouraged to bring their own favorite brushes and other art supplies. The class will be held in the lower level of the 4H building from 9 to 11 a.m. Dec. 8.
