PITTSBURGH (AP) – Family members of a man who was shot by police during a traffic stop say authorities won’t let them visit him in the hospital.

Police said 19-year-old Leon Ford is in critical but stable condition at a Pittsburgh hospital.

Ford allegedly refused to cooperate with officers and drove off after the Sunday traffic stop. Fearing he would be dragged away, one officer jumped into the car and then reportedly fired after Jones resisted and refused orders to stop.

Lt. Kevin Kraus of the Pittsburgh police says people who are in custody in a hospital aren’t allowed visitors.

Court records don’t show Jones has been charged, but police say he will face aggravated assault and other charges.

Family members are asking they be allowed to visit Jones.
