Four local fire departments will hold a mock fire drill at the barns of The Meadows Racetrack & Casino at 7 p.m. today. The mock drill will be coordinated through the Washington County 911 center and involve firefighters from North Strabane, Chartiers and Peters townships, and the borough of Canonsburg.

Neighbors surrounding the track and casino will be notified in advance. Also involved is the Canonsburg Ambulance Service.

The race track and casino will remain operational through the drill and signs will be used to notify guests.

Fog machines and red strobe lights will be used to simulate real conditions in barn No. 1. No horses will be in the barn during the mock drill.

The event is to test operational ability across jurisdictions, including water pressure and timing.

North Strabane Volunteer Fire Department recently opened its new emergency services center on adjacent property that was donated by The Meadows.
