A meeting between the Cecil Township board of supervisors and representatives for Range Resources will be rescheduled.
Don Gennuso, township manager, said Wednesday that he has been working with Jim Cannon, Range’s local government relations manager, on finding a date that would allow all members of the board to attend.
Gennuso said they were hoping for a time the last week of November, but he has since learned one board member will be out of town.
Range had requested the meeting to develop a good working relationship with the board. The natural gas drilling company has been operating in Cecil.
A meeting set for last week was canceled when Cannon objected to state Rep. Jesse White, D-Cecil, posting the meeting on his Facebook page and inviting about 250 people who do not live in the township.
“We’ve always wanted to have the meeting and we’ve remained in touch with them to do so,” Matt Pitzarella, Range’s spokesman, wrote in an email seeking comment.
Although the meeting is a workshop meeting without any voting action planned, it remains public, although rules can be placed on public comment.
Ultimately, Gennuso said, the meeting needs to be a conversation between the board and Range in order to develop a good working relationship.
Range has asked for a similar meeting with commissioners in South Fayette Township.
