Judges seek Snyder replacement
The Greene County Court of Common Pleas announced it is now accepting letters of interest from any resident who wants to complete the unexpired term of county Commissioner Pam Snyder, who will resign at the end of the month to assume the office of state representative.
Snyder was elected in the general election Nov. 6 to represent the 50th Legislative District in the state House. Her resignation is effective Nov. 30. The following day, Snyder will go on the state payroll. She will take office in January.
According to the county code, the vacancy will be filled by appointment by the Court of Common Pleas. By law, the person appointed must be a registered Democrat because he or she will be replacing a Democrat commissioner.
Anyone interested in filling this position to serve the three years remaining on Snyder’s term should write to Sheila Rode, acting court administrator, Greene County Courthouse, Waynesburg, PA 15370, no later than Nov. 30, describing relevant experience and qualifications.
The last time the court was required to appoint a commissioner was in 2010 when Dave Coder resigned to accept a position as deputy district director for U.S. Rep. Mark Critz.
The court followed a similar process in appointing his replacement.
At that time, 25 people sent letters of interest to the court seeking the position. The successful candidate was Chuck Morris, who completed Coder’s term and ran last year, winning a full four-year term on the board.
