Third burglar pleads guilty

A Clairton man recently pleaded guilty to being one of three men who went on a burglary spree throughout Washington, Westmoreland and Allegheny counties last years.
Michael P. Bryant, 28, of 265 Massachusetts Ave., Clairton, pleaded guilty to four counts each of burglary, criminal conspiracy and receiving stolen property before Washington County Judge John DiSalle.
In exchange for his plea, Bryant was placed on the Intermediate Punishment Program for 5 years with the first 9 months on electronic home monitoring.
According to police records, Bryant and two other men broke into homes, stealing jewelry, cash and electronics. Charged against them were filed by the state police Bureau of Criminal Investigations, Western Organized Crime Unit. In Washington County, the burglaries occurred in South Franklin Township and Union Township.
One of Bryant’s co-defendants, Kenneth A. Jacobs, 26, of South Park, has already pleaded guilty to related charges and was sentenced to 2 to 5 years in prison.
A second accomplice, Phillip A. Carter, 23, also of South Park, pleaded guilty and was placed on the Intermediate Punishment Program for 5 years.
The cases were prosecuted in Washington County as part of a prior agreement between the Westmoreland County district attorney’s office and former Washington County District Attorney Steven Toprani.
