The following people appeared recently in Washington County Court on criminal charges.

Appearing before Judge Katherine B. Emery were:

Roger L. Alston, 53, of 150 1/2 Elm St., Washington; first driving under the influence offense, driving with a suspended license; charged April 24 following a traffic stop on Jefferson Avenue in Washington with a 0.144 percent blood-alcohol content; sentence – 18 hours to 6 months in jail, $700 in fines, drug and alcohol evaluation and treatment, driver’s license suspension.

Montez D. Brooks, 22, of 2514 Stewart St., McKeesport; criminal conspiracy, retail theft; charged June 7, 2011, at Walmart in South Strabane Township; sentence – 23 months of probation with the first 90 days on electronic home monitoring.

Mark W. Shively, 50, of 237 E. Pike St., Houston; second DUI offense; charged April 20 following a traffic stop on West Pike Street in Canonsburg with a 0.214 percent BAC; sentence – 18 months of probation with the first 30 days in jail followed by 60 days of electronic home monitoring, $1,500 fine, drug and alcohol evaluation and treatment, driver’s license suspension.

David B. Wilkinson, 37, of 224 Washington Ave., Charleroi; second DUI offense, hindering apprehension; charged March 27 for DUI at the Giant Eagle in Carroll Township and on March 24 at 801 McKean Ave., Apt. 1, Charleroi, no BAC listed; sentence – 18 months of probation with the first 30 days in jail followed by 60 days of electronic home monitoring, $750 fine, drug and alcohol evaluation and treatment, driver’s license suspension.

Appearing before Judge Janet Moschetta Bell was:

Shantye R. Brown, 32, of 430 1/2 W. Chestnut St., Washington; two first DUI offenses, possession of cocaine; charged Dec. 24 following a vehicle crash on Interstate 79 in South Strabane Township with a 0.163 percent BAC, and on March 6 following a traffic stop on Maple Avenue in Washington with a 0.191 percent BAC; sentence – 30 months of probation with the first 30 days on SCRAM, $2,000 in fines, drug and alcohol evaluation and treatment, driver’s license suspension.

Appearing before Judge John DiSalle was:

Ashley D. Powers, 26, of Bridgeport, W.Va.; possession of drug paraphernalia; charged Sept. 8, 2011, at the Lone Pine One Stop in Amwell Township; sentence – 12 months of probation.

Two people were admitted to the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program for first-time offenders. If they successfully complete the program, they can petition the court to have their records expunged.

Salvatore M. Scudiero, 53, of 1121 Eaglepoint Drive, Canonsburg, was admitted for 12 months for a first DUI offense. He was charged Jan. 28 on Southpointe Boulevard in Cecil Township.

Joshua T. Payne, 22, of 4044 Tuxey Ave., Pittsburgh, was admitted for 12 months for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct. He was charged May 5 at 69 Third St., California.
