The South Strabane Board of Supervisors approved a final land development plan for the construction of the new road department building that will be constructed on Floral Hill Drive Tuesday.
Some minor revisions to the design of the building were approved during the meeting. A representative from Widmer Engineering said minor changes to the 80 by 100-foot building that will sit on the 3.5-acre plot included a change in the layout of a drainage pond and a decrease in the grade of the access road.
Supervisors will begin soliciting bids for work on building in upcoming weeks.
Supervisors also voted to enter into an agreement on splitting some of the costs of running a new water line to the location of the new police department building on Smith Drive with the Washington Ford automotive dealership. Under the agreement, both parties would pay Pennsylvania American Water $7,550 for the main water line.
In other township business, the board accepted the resignation of Kara LaFrankie from the parks and recreation council.
Supervisors also voted to appoint Keystone Collections Group to collect delinquent earned income and local services taxes from 2011 and previous years. Keystone was recently assigned to collect 2012 taxes as well.
Manager John Stickle said the township was right on track with the 2012 budget. So far, South Strabane had gained roughly $3,786,000 in revenue and tallied about $3,806,000 in expenditures. That sum does not include the $123,470 South Strabane received from the state in Act 13 impact fees. Those fees are paid by energy companies in the area drilling for natural gas in the Marcellus Shale formation.
