Washington County’s Department of Information Technology introduced the county’s newly designed website this month, offering more information and more accessibility to government services, with an aim of improving communication with its citizens.

The new site went live to the public on Nov. 16.

“Although we have been working on the site for quite some time, we consider this unveiling as only the beginning of a new era focusing on citizen feedback, E-government services, community involvement, and communication and interaction with citizens keeping them up to date on the workings and offerings of county government,” said Donald Cortese, the county’s chief information officer. Some of the new features incorporated into the county portal include:

n Residents’ ability to create a profile and request notifications based on their interests. Community members can also customize the way they receive information.

n “Community voice” allows residents to participate in discussions about relevant topics pertinent to Washington County.

n Residents can receive community alerts, issue requests and report conditions through the citizen request tracker.

n County agencies can upload videos, departmental news, list facilities, maintain a staff directory and provide access to documents and agendas for public access.

The website’s address is www.co.washington.pa.us.
