Lions announce students of month
WAYNESBURG – Waynesburg Central High School seniors Paige Zalar and Steven Calvario have been selected as Waynesburg Lions Club’s students of the month for November.
Zalar, a daughter of Grant and Lynn Zalar of Waynesburg, maintains a 4.0 grade-point average.
She has been a member of the band since fourth grade, playing the clarinet and saxophone. For the last two years, she has been drum major for the high school band.
Zalar was a member of the high school volleyball team for two years and has been a member of the stage crew and has been stage manager for the fall and spring plays.
Outside of school, she is an alter server at St. Ann Catholic Church and past assistant CCD teacher.
Zalar plans to attend a four-year college but is undecided on a major.
Calvario, a son of Dave and Beth Calvario of Waynesburg, maintains a 3.92 grade-point average.
He is a member of the National Honor Society, baseball and golf teams and the lettermen club.
He has received the 11th grade physics award, 10th and 11th grade math awards and the 9th and 10th grade Spanish awards.
Outside of school he is a member of Crossroads Youth Ministry and the Waynesburg Volunteer Fire Company.
Calvario plans to attend a college or university and major in mechanical engineering.
