Organizing for America-PA is hosting a African-Americans for Obama event and call for volunteers at its office at 54 W. Wheeling St., Washington, from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Washington County residents and friends are encouraged to drop in to get the latest information on: voter registration (the deadline to register is Oct. 9); the new voter ID law, which requires all voters to show photo identification at the polls; absentee ballot procedures, and volunteering to help get out the vote on Nov. 6.

Refreshments and campaign materials will be available.
