Gov. Tom Corbett has nominated Sonia Stopperich, a North Strabane Township supervisor, to the Municipal Police Officers Education and Training Commission.

Stopperich, who lives in the Canonsburg area, was one of 10 nominated Monday. She is a local businesswoman who has served as an alternate delegate from the 18th Congressional District to the Republican national convention in Tampa, Fla., and as a member of the Republican state committee.
