A Marianna woman was indicted Tuesday by a federal grand jury in Wheeling, W.Va., for her alleged role in five bank robberies, including one more than two years ago in Bentleyville.
Jessica L. Crawford, 32, was named in a three-count indictment, announced William J. Ihlenfeld II, U.S. Attorney for the northern district of West Virginia.
Crawford allegedly served as a getaway driver for Rudolph Todd Haladyna, 36, of Clarksville, when he robbed the Charleroi Federal Savings Bank, 919 Main St., Bentleyville, Sept. 13, 2010. The robber pointed a gun at two tellers and a customer inside the bank.
She also is accused of serving as the getaway driver during two robberies in October 2010 at PNC Bank in Redstone Township, Fayette County. Crawford is accused of brandishing a handgun during a Nov. 23, 2010, robbery of a bank near Cheat Lake, W.Va. She also allegedly used a gun during a Dec. 3, 2010, bank robbery in Weirton, W.Va.
The indictment also includes a forfeiture allegation for $31,846 that she and Haladyna reportedly stole from the banks.
Haladyna was sentenced last month in U.S. District Court in Clarksburg, W.Va., to 20 years in prison as a serial bank robber. He pleaded guilty to robbing a bank in Morgantown, W.Va., but in his indictment, he also was accused of twice robbing the bank in Bentleyville a well as other banks in Fayette County and West Virginia. As part of his plea, Haladyna was not prosecuted for the other robberies.
The Clarksville man had been released from prison six months before the first Bentleyville bank robbery after serving time for robbing banks in Dry Tavern, Greene County, and Marianna in 2002.
