South Strabane Township police nabbed three alleged thieves at Walmart, Trinity Point, late Wednesday afternoon, including one woman caught less than a week ago while reportedly stealing from Kmart in Peters Township. Zoe Lee McQuain, 31, of Moundsville, W.Va., reportedly spent several hours inside the store before she was caught as she tried to wheel out a shopping cart containing 53 items valued at $387.10 out the garden center doors about 5 p.m. Brent Allen Shifflett, 22, and Chandra Day Sturdivant, 20, both of Elkins, W.Va., were arrested a few hours earlier after they tried to steal controllers for an Xbox. Shifflett reportedly had a knife he used to cut the packaging. He also was banned from Walmarts after an incident reported at a store near his home, police said. Store security was watching McQuain as she reportedly took a router and hard drive, valued at $242, and put the items in a Walmart bag she brought with her to the store. She then reportedly went to the customer service counter and returned the items in exchange for $242 in merchandise credit. Police said McQuain then returned to the main part of the store, where she reportedly started placing smaller items in more bags and putting those bags inside a shopping cart. When she was done shopping, she tried to push the cart out of the door but was stopped by store security, police said. McQuain was arrested Oct. 11 by Peters Township police for allegedly stealing two learning tablets and games from Kmart, 4041 Washington Road. She was released from the Washington County jail after posting $2,500 bond. McQuain was arraigned on the latest charges of retail theft and theft by deception before District Judge Mark Wilson. She was placed in theWashington County jail on $10,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is set for Oct. 26 before District Judge Jay Weller. Shifflett and Sturdivant were arraigned before Weller. Shifflett, who is charged with retail theft, criminal trespass and possessing instruments of a crime, was placed in jail on $5,000 bond. Sturdivant, who is charged with retail theft, was jailed on $2,500 bond.
