Wheeling Street being paved this week

Weather permitted, Washington Public Works Bureau crews will begin work today to repave Wheeling Street from Lincoln Street in the city to Wade Avenue in East Washington. The street is expected to be closed from Lincoln to Wade from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily through Friday.The estimated cost of the project is about $40,000. Washington Councilman Matt Staniszewski, who directs the public works department, said 50 percent of the cost will be paid by Washington & Jefferson College, and East Washington also will contribute.Another section of Wheeling and parts of College and Walnut streets will be paved next year as part of the overall project, along with numerous other neighborhood paving projects.
