CARMICHAELS – The Greene Academy Homecoming Christmas Craft Show will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 10 and from noon to 4 p.m. Nov. 11 at the Academy, North Market Street, Carmichaels. Chairwoman Kathy Kerr said there will be free admission, crafts, hot lunches by the Hartley Inn. The board will decorate the Academy in Victorian style at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 2. Music students from the Carmichaels area will play piano in the hall throughout the festival. The finance committee spokesman David Jack introduced Dave Hockenberry, who spoke on matters of insurance, then took questions from the board. Bill Cole presented the academy with two very old letters from 1898. One letter was a bill from a carriage making and supply company, T.T. Hutchisson of Wheeling, W.Va, sent to James Smith of Carmichaels, a harness and saddle maker, listing a page of supplies that had been purchased for $79. Special projects chairwoman Carole Gideon will have new tree ornaments with a covered bridge or a Academy picture, Laurel Point Cemetery history books written in 1990 and a limited supply of John L. O’Hara’s book “Fact & Folklore” & his second book, “More Folklore,” for sale during the festival. The next board meeting is Nov. 27. Nancy Reynolds will preside.
