Canon-McMillan hires new superintendent

Michael Daniels, an employee of Canon-McMillan School District for 16 years, has been named the district’s new superintendent. Daniels’ elevation to the district’s top post was approved unanimously this week by the school board. Daniels had been filling the post on an interim basis since the June 2011 departure of then-superintendent Helen McCracken. In the past, he had served as assistant superintendent, director of special education, special education coordinator and school psychologist. Daniels also had worked for Intermediate Unit I and Washington School District. A Washington native, he has degrees from Washington & Jefferson College and California University of Pennsylvania. As Canon-McMillan superintendent, he will earn $135,000 a year. He received a three-year contract.
