CARMICHAELS – A Carmichaels man, injured in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday on Route 21 in Cumberland Township, has died at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va. Bruce Collins, 59, of Brodak’s Mobile Home Park was taken to the Morgantown hospital by helicopter following the 12:12 p.m. crash just west of Bailey’s Crossroad. Collins died later at the hospital, police said. The West Virginia medical examiner’s office could not be reached Thursday for further information. The driver of the second vehicle, Kenneth Gayman, 67, of Jefferson was taken to Southwest Regional Medical Center, where he was treated and released. Police said Gayman’s 2001 Ford Ranger was traveling east on Route 21. As Gayman attempted to make a left turn into Junction Deli, his vehicle entered the path of Collins’ 1999 Ford Contour, which was traveling west on Route 21. Cumberland Township police Chief Craig Miller said Thursday the crash remains under investigation. State police and a state police crash reconstructionist were at the scene Tuesday and police are awaiting the reconstructionist’s report, he said. The cause of death of Collins also is pending. The Carmichaels-Cumberland Township Volunteer Fire Company also was called and assisted at the scene.
