A New Mexico man will spend nearly a year in jail for sexually assaulting a Smith Township woman in an Atlasburg home more than two years ago. Tony Coho Jr., 25, of Ramah, pleaded guilty Oct. 16 to indecent assault, unlawful restraint and simple assault before Washington County Judge Katherine B. Emery. In exchange for his plea, Coho was sentenced to one year less a day to two years less two days in jail followed by 5 years of probation. Charges of rape, kidnapping and flight to avoid prosecution were dismissed. According to court records, Coho offered to take the woman, who is now 50, home Sept. 24, 2010, when she finished her shift at a Mt. Pleasant Township bar. As he drove, Coho pulled out a knife and took the woman to a home in Atlasburg, where he forced her to have sex. Afterward, Coho, a painting contractor, fled the area and returned to New Mexico. He was taken into custody by police in New Mexico Oct. 4, 2010. He waived extradition and was returned to Washington County.
