Two injured: Jessica L. Gamrod, 35, of 18 Maple St., Muse, and Calvin Harney, 9, no address available, were taken to Canonsburg General Hospital following a one-car accident at 2:40 p.m. Monday at Chartiers Run and Ridge Road. Chartiers police reported Gamrod was driving a car on a slick road when the car slid into an embankment and hit a tree.
Man jailed: Mark Thomas, 59, of 789 McKean Ave., Donora, is charged by borough police with aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault on a person under age 13 and unlawful restraint, court records show. Thomas is accused of holding down and having illegal contact with a 7-year-old girl about 8:30 p.m. Oct. 7 at a residence near his, police stated in the affidavit. He is in the Washington County jail on $50,000 bond after being arraigned Monday before District Judge Mark Wilson.Woman assaulted: Robert Popelas, 24, of 1120 State Road, Monessen, is charged by borough police with simple assault, harassment, trespass and disorderly conduct. Popelas is accused of striking Siida Murtaza once in the stomach and several times in the head about 11:50 p.m. Oct. 23 at 144 Gallatin Road, police stated in the affidavit. He is free on $5,000 bond set Monday by District Judge Mark Wilson.
Students charged: Three Trinity High School students were charged by North Franklin poice with disorderly conduct stemming from a fight in a restroom Oct. 25. Police said a 14-year-old South Strabane boy taped two 16-year-old Canton Township boys fighting and then posted it on Facebook.Teen charged: A 17-year-old South Franklin Township boy was charged by North Franklin police with public drunkenness and disorderly conduct after reportedly creating a disturbance in McDonald’s parking lot, 1294 W. Chestnut St., earlier this month. The boy yelled obscenities at police and refused to get in the cruiser. He was taken to Washington Hospital for treatment. Police said the boy’s blood-alcohol content was more than 10 times the 0.02 percent limit presumed for intoxication in anyone under 21. He also had marijuana in his system.Charged in stop: Victor Shea Dix, 27, of 1522 Amity Ridge Road, Amwell Township, was charged by North Franklin police with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia in addition to traffic violations stemming from a traffic stop Saturday on Cleveland Road.Theft charge: Danielle Metts, 43, of 130 Sugar Maple Circle, North Franklin, was charged by North Franklin police with felony retail theft after she allegedly stole jewelry valued at $360 Friday from Macy’s, Washington Crown Center.Glasses, frames stolen: North Franklin police said glasses and frames valued at $1,440 were reported stolen Oct. 18 from Sears optical center, Washington Crown Center. Sears employees told police similar thefts have happened in other parts of Pennsylvania as well as Michigan.
Arrested at casino: Gerald L. Lobianco was charged with resisting arrest, two counts of disorderly conduct and public drunkenness following an incident at 3 p.m. Monday, according to an affidavit filed in the office of District Judge James Ellis. Lobianco, 61, of 507 Smokey Wood Drive, Pittsburgh, was asked to leave the casino by security when it was determined he was intoxicated, according to state police in gaming enforcement. Lobianco allegedly became disorderly and used foul language and a state police officer intervened. He was placed in handcuffs and threatened the officer, gaming enforcement said. When the state police officer inadvertantly stepped on the rear of Lobianco’s left foot, the officer said Lobianco lunged at the him and had to be taken to the ground. Police said he continued to be disorderly and police used a Taser on his right thigh. Lobianco was arraigned before Ellis at 4:50 p.m. Monday and was placed in the Washington County jail on $10,000 bond.
School bus accident: South Strabane police reported a Schweinebraten Co. school bus, operated by Alanna M. Roche, was traveling east on Route 136 when it struck the back of a car that had stopped to make a left turn at Davis School Road. Neither Roche, of 3090 Park Ave., Washington; the other driver, Kyra Fleckenstein of Strabane Street, Washington; nor the three students on the bus – ages 6, 11 and 16 – was injured in the accident at 3:26 p.m. Monday.
Jailed in assault: Michael Lee Erb was placed in the Washington County jail on $100,000 bond after he allegedly charged a trooper during an arrest at 10 p.m. Monday, causing the state police trooper to injure his back, according to an affidavit filed in the office of District Judge James Ellis. Erb, 26, of 811 Pioneer Comm Road, St. Mary’s, was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and public drunkenness. State police in Belle Vernon said officers were called to an accident on Interstate 70 but found the vehicle abandoned in the middle of the road. A witness told police two men were observed taking items out of the car. The men were seen jumping over the guardrail and running east along the interstate. Police found a man, later identified as Erb, fitting the description of one of the two men at the Exxon station along Dally Road, but he ran toward the trooper causing the trooper to lose his balance and fall to the ground, police said. The trooper stood and chased Erb 100 yards, where Erb surrendered only to charge the trooper, causing the trooper to injure his back, police said. Erb was arraigned before Ellis at 12:15 a.m. Tuesday and was placed in jail.
Theft reported: Brandon Lucy of 760 Allison Ave., Washington, told city police his wallet was stolen from his vehicle between Thursday and Monday while it was parked outside his residence.Coins stolen: Agnes Belcher of 60 New York St., Washington, told city police a collection of Susan B. Anthony coins were stolen from her residence between Thursday and Monday.CD racks stolen: Bobbi Kennan of 165 Jollick Manor, Washington, told city police Monday three compact-disc racks recently were stolen from her residence.Assault charges: Ashley Field, 29, of 8101 83rd Ave., Tacoma, Wash., will be charged with simple assault and criminal mischief for assaulting a Washington woman Monday and damaging a vehicle, city police said. The victim, Dana Vallocorsa of 2900 Toft St., told city police Field struck her several times inside a Locust Avenue residence before using a log to break the windows out of a car owned by Vallocorsa’s mother.Vandalism reported: An anonymous caller reported to city police a man was seen breaking the front window of Angela Rose Gift Shop, 239 S. Main St., Washington, just after 1:15 a.m. Tuesday. Police said the witness reportedly saw the man exit a South Main Street bar, kick the shop’s window and flee in a black Dodge pickup truck driven by another man.Theft discovered: City police reported discovering a vehicle with its back window smashed out, parked near 1175 Allison Ave., Washington, while on patrol just before 2 a.m. Tuesday. Police said the victim was alerted and told officers $1,900 in car stereo equipment was missing from the vehicle.
