WAYNESBURG – Waynesburg University master of business administration students traveled to Ireland Oct. 5-13 through as part of an international business class.Eleven students attended the trip with Domenic Marian, lecturer in the MBA program, and Janice Crile, director of graduate programs in business administration.”The goal of our MBA program’s international business trip is to give students a fresh perspective on the challenges and opportunities of doing business globally,” Crile said. “Students have the opportunity to interact with top international business executives and to immerse themselves in the culture.”The visit to Ireland featured an eight-day international business trip that included business meetings, seminars and cultural tours. Some highlights include visits to Galway, Killarney and Dublin, with numerous business sessions, including The Kerry Group, IBM, the Guinness Storehouse marketing team and the U.S. Embassy, among others. “The 2012 international business trip to Ireland provided us with real world international business experiences, outside of the normal class room environment,” said Jason Pacewicz, a student in the MBA program. “It is one thing to read about a topic inside a business text book or as part of a lecture, but a whole different thing when you actually experience it.”While at the U.S. Embassy, participants listened to a lecture from John Hennessey-Niland, deputy chief of mission. He spoke of the U.S. Embassy’s role abroad as it serves the needs of American citizens. Additional activities include tours of Glasnevin Cemetery, the Cliffs of Moher, Flying Boat Museum, Trinity College and more. At Trinity College, the group viewed the Book of Kells, the oldest Latin text of the four Gospels.
