BENTLEYVILLE
Man jailed: Christopher S. Zbyl, 45, of 6 Hillman St., Bentleyville, was charged by state police with simple assault, resisting arrest and harassment over accusations he grabbed Mary C. Zbyl by the hair and scratched her face about 6:30 a.m. Monday at their residence, court records show. Troopers took him to the ground after he refused their orders to desist, police stated in the affidavit. He is in the Washington County jail on $10,000 set by District Judge Mark Wilson.
CANONSBURG
Woman injured: Bertha M. Kazak, 71, of 1115 McEwen Ave., Canonsburg, was injured Monday night when the vehicle she was driving went off the road at Gladden Road and Martin Drive and into a yard at 601 Gladden, Canonsburg police said. The car struck several trees before overturning, trapping Kazak. She was freed by Canonsburg firefighters. Police said she was taken to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, but a spokeswoman had no record of treatment.
Items stolen: Catherine Schmitt of 423 W. College St. told Canonsburg police Monday a fanny pack containing a cellphone, phone cards and a debit card were stolen from a wall near her home.
HANOVER
PFA arrest: Grover Grayson Jr., 53, of Pittsburgh, was arrested Monday by state police for allegedly violating a protection-from-abuse order Friday. Theresa Troff of 50 Harrington Lane, Hanover, obtained the order from Judge Gary Gilman in May. She told police Grayson came to her home Friday, pushed her to the floor, ripped the telephone cord from the walls inside the home and cut the wires at the junction box outside the house. He was arraigned before District Judge Ethan Ward and placed in the Washington County jail on a $5,000 percentage bond.
McDONALD
Theft charge: Anthony Craig Rogers, 23, of 316 Center Ave., McDonald, was charged Tuesday by McDonald police with theft of property lost or mislaid in connection with an incident at Giant Eagle, 200 Station St., Aug. 20. The manager told police Rogers cashed his $190.16 paycheck, but the clerk mistakenly gave him $790.16 because the first number looked like a seven. Rogers was contacted and told he needed to return the money by Aug. 22. Police said he told them he had spent the money and was not able to return it. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Valarie Costanzo.
MT. PLEASANT
Harassment charge: Timothy Bain, 38, of McDonald, was charged with harassment by state police for allegedly striking Lisa Marie Hoak of McDonald during a confrontation early Saturday on Johns Avenue, Mt. Pleasant.
NORTH STRABANE
House burglarized: Bryan and Jennifer Trottier of Bluegrass Drive told North Strabane police Monday jewelry was stolen when their home was burglarized. There was no forced entry, and it appears the burglar entered through a rear basement door.
Students charged: Two 10th-grade students at Canon-McMillan High School will be charged with disorderly conduct stemming from a fight Monday morning in the cafeteria, North Strabane police said. A 15-year-old North Strabane boy is accused of hitting and tackling a 16-year-old Canonsburg boy. The 16-year-old is accused of punching the 15-year-old. Both boys were suspended from school for three days.
No injuries reported: No one was injured Tuesday morning when a car drifted into a school van on Brownlee Road at Thomas-Eighty Four Road, North Strabane police said. The van, owned by Matthews Bus Co., was stopped when the car drifted into the rear. No students were in the van, driven by Judith McCloskey, 48, of Scenery Hill. The car’s driver was identified as Carolyn Hoag, 24, of Pittsburgh.
SOUTH STRABANE
Card information used: Tim Bugaile of South Strabane told township police Tuesday information from his debit card was accessed and used to make two purchases totaling almost $200 at a Sam’s Club in Vero Beach, Fla.
Theft arrest: Paige Ashley Grimm, 22, of Belle Vernon, was charged Monday with theft by deception after she allegedly stole $90 in items from shelves at Walmart, Trinity Point, and returned them for a gift card.
Bar owner cited: The owner of Trio Lounge, 1694 N. Main St., South Strabane, has been cited by the state police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement for allowing smoking on three occasions in May and June.
WASHINGTON
Endangerment charges: Chelsea Dague, 27, of 450 Allison Ave., was charged by city police Tuesday with two counts of endangering the welfare of children for allegedly leaving her children unsupervised Aug. 12. According to court documents, Dague’s 3- and 5-year-old sons were found by police playing in the street. Dague said she left the children watching TV while she was in another apartment upstairs. Charges will be sent through the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
Officer stuck by needle: Timothy Grimes, 38, no address given, was charged by city police with reckless endangerment and possession of drug paraphernalia after he was stopped by police Monday. During a pat-down, Grimes reportedly told police he had nothing in his pocket. However, police say an officer was stuck with the needle of a syringe. He was wearing protective gloves. Charges will be sent through the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
Drug, other charges: Crystal Valperga, 26, of 850 Bridge St., Prosperity, was charged by city police Tuesday with three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, and Nathaniel Hoberek, 47, of 259 Center Ave., Burgettstown, was charged with possesion of paraphernalia, driving on a suspended license, driving without an ignition interlock device and driving with open containers of alcohol after police pulled them over June 4 at the corner of Baird and Wayne avenues. Officers said they found a digital scale with suspected crack cocaine residue, crack pipe, other drug-related materials and open containers of Hennessey and wine. Charges will be sent through the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
Brick tossed: City police will charge a minor with criminal mischief for throwing a brick through the window of Rochelle Wright of 61 Burton Ave. Monday.
