PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh Controller Michael Lamb has dropped out of the race for mayor, and is endorsing former state auditor general Jack Wagner.

Lamb said Monday that the multi-candidate race made it difficult to project clear choices.

Wagner and City Councilman Bill Peduto are now the two leading Democrats seeking to replace Mayor Luke Ravenstahl, who is not running for re-election. State Rep. Jake Wheatley and Abdula Jamal Richardson, a political novice and community organizer, are the other Democrats running.

Josh Wander, a consultant and state constable, is the only Republican running in a city that hasn’t elected a mayor from that party since the Great Depression.
