WAYNESBURG – Waynesburg Area Chamber of Commerce is reminding area seniors the application deadline is 4 p.m. April 15 for the annual $1,500 chamber scholarship.

This is the 23rd year the group has awarded the scholarship. The scholarship program is open to any Greene County student who will be a graduating senior in 2013.

The chamber is urging all high school seniors – who have been accepted to a college or technical school as an incoming freshman this fall and have maintained a cumulative 3.0 grade-point average or better – to apply for this scholarship.

Applicants will be required to furnish a listing of their school activities and local community involvement and must write an essay.

Applications are available in the chamber office at 143 E. High St. and at each county high school, as well as the Greene County Career and Technology Center.

Applications also can be obtained by calling the chamber at 724 627-5926 or downloaded from the chamber website at www.waynesburgchamber.com.

The winner will be announced in early May and the scholarship award will be presented at the chamber’s general membership luncheon May 22.
