Drivers should try to avoid the Route 519/Pike Street area of Houston and Route 519 (Western Avenue) in Chartiers Township starting at about 3 p.m. today.

Township officials were notified at about 1 p.m. by a representative by MarkWest Liberty Midstream and Resources that an oversize load is being delivered. The truck will be getting off Interstate 79 at Houston and traveling into the borough. The representative estimates that it could take up to two hours to get through the intersection. Traffic will be at a standstill while the load is moved.

The representative indicated to township officials that the company just received approval of the route from the state Department of Transportation.
