Fire destroys Richeyville greenhouse

A greenhouse at Joe’s Greenhouse on National Pike Road in Richeyville was destroyed by fire Friday night.

A state police fire marshal is investigating the cause of the blaze, which started about 6:45 a.m. Richeyville fire Chief Dave Pohill said the greenhouse, approximately 25 feet by 60 feet, was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.

Richeyville firefighters were assisted by firefighters fromp Bentleyville, Fredericktown, East Bethlehem Township and Denbo-Vesta 6.

The owner, who recently bought the business, was storing miscellaneous items including potting soil in the greenhouse.

An adjacent building was not damaged.
