Cornerstone Genealogical Society of Greene County will meet at 7 p.m. today in the Log Courthouse. Kent Fonner, former president of the society, will speak about his book, “All Quiet on the Border.” The book is about the Civil War and people who served from Greene County. The public is welcome.

The Friends of Ryerson Station State Park will meet at 6:30 p.m. today at the park office. On the agenda is finalizing the plans for the May 11 Tails on Trails and Rabies Clinic, events for the summer and the Outdoor Heritage Festival.

Carmichaels Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3491 will meet at 7 p.m. today in the post home to elect officers. All members are urged to attend. The ladies auxiliary will meet at the same time.

A square dance (also line dancing, polkas, cake walk and more) will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday at the Rogersville fire hall. Caller will be Dave Dahl. Cost is $5 per person or $8 per couple. Food and drinks will be served beginning at 6:30. Call 724-499-5385 for additional information.

The Greene County & Friends Relay For Life team will host a bake sale Friday on the steps of the Greene County Courthouse. Planned items for sale include hot chicken, ham barbecue and sloppy Joe sandwiches, veggie pizza, cabbage and noodles and a variety of homemade baked goods. All proceeds benefit Relay For Life of Greene County.

Aleppo Brethren Church is holding a free clothing giveaway from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday and Friday.

An art exhibit featuring the work of Carmichaels Area High School senior art students will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. April 19. The work will be shown at the Greene Academy on North Market Street, Carmichaels. Admission is free, and the public is encouraged to attend.

A chicken roast will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 20 at the Wind Ridge baseball fields on Route 21. A whole roasted chicken costs $8 and for $10, one can buy a half roasted chicken dinner with two sides, a roll and beverage. Tickets are available at Burns Exxon, Graysville Store, Hopkins Store and Stokes Store. Proceeds benefit the Wind Ridge Baseball Association.

The Waynesburg University music program will present a spring jazz and percussion concert at 7:30 p.m. April 22 in the Marsh Center. Admission is free and the public is cordially invited to attend. This concert, performed by the university’s jazz and percussion ensembles, presents a unique opportunity to explore the sounds connected to jazz and its growth from many earlier styles of American popular music. Another addition to the evening’s entertainment is the presentation of music made by a variety of percussive instruments from around the globe. Cornerstone Ministry Center will hold a senior citizen chili cook-off from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. April 26 at its camp facility in Jefferson. Ten competitors are being sought to prepare chili at home in crock pots to bring to the camp for judging. The public is welcome. A suggested donation of $3 is requested.
