PHILADELPHIA – Relatives of a Philadelphia firefighter killed battling a weekend blaze gathered at a solemn memorial to mark the anniversary of the deaths of two firefighters who were killed in a building collapse while battling a warehouse blaze last year.

Sixty-year-old Lt. Robert Neary and 25-year-old firefighter Daniel Sweeney were killed a year ago in the collapse at a nearby furniture store in the city’s Kensington section.

KYW-TV says Tuesday’s noontime ceremony at City Hall by the Philadelphia chapter of the International Association of Firefighters included the playing of taps the sounds of bagpipes.

Among those present were relatives of 53-year-old Capt. Michael Goodwin, who died Saturday in a roof collapse while battling a fire in a three-story building in the city’s Queen Village section.
