Route 19 work in Mt. Lebanon to start

Work will begin April 22 on a $5.56 million project on 2 1/2 miles of Washington Road (Route 19) in the Mt. Lebanon area.

Work includes milling and resurfacing, guardrail, minor drainage, curbs, pavement markings, signs, traffic signals, median removal, handicap ramps and other improvements from the intersection of Conner/Gilkeson roads to Alfred Street.

Work and improvements also will occur on Gilkeson and Connor in the area of the Washington Road intersection.

Overall work will conclude in early 2014. The prime contractor is Lindy Paving.

Traffic restrictions will be coordinated to minimize effects on commuters. No inbound restrictions will occur between 6 and 9 a.m., and no outbound restrictions will occur between 3 and 6 p.m. weekdays.

Restrictions requiring lane closures and single-lane traffic will occur in both directions from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.; inbound from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and outbound from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. On weekends, traffic will be restricted in both directions from 6 p.m. Fridays through 6 a.m. Mondays.
