A North Strabane Township man was arrested Tuesday by township police after he was accused of having inappropriate contact with a 7-year-old girl.

Richard G. Crowley, 61, of 103 Partridge Way, is accused of having the contact with the girl on at least three occasions between June 1 and March 13, police said.

Township police Lt. Dan Levi said he was initially contacted by Allegheny County Children and Youth Services after the girl told her mother that Crowley had inappropriately touched her.

Levi said he observed a forensic interview with the girl at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC.

“I felt the child was credible so I proceeded with the charges,” Levi said.

Crowley denied having contact with the girl.

Crowley, who turned himself in to police, was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller on charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, corruption of minors and endangering the welfare of children. He was released on his own recognizance with orders not to have any contact with any children. A preliminary hearing is set for April 29.
