State police are making preparations for their annual cadet camp for area youth to learn self-discipline and team-building skills.

The weeklong “Troop B Camp Cadet 2013” is scheduled to run from July 14 to 21 at the Linsly Outdoor Center at Raccoon Creek State Park in Beaver County.

The camp offers information and activities about law enforcement to children so they can learn more about what police officers do on a daily basis.

The camp is provided at no charge to boys and girls ages 12 to 14 years old.

State police said children must be in good physical shape and pass an interview.

Call state police in Washington at 724-223-5200 for more information about how to apply to the camp.
