The Washington County district attorney’s office is holding a special event to commemorate National Crime Victims’ Rights Week.
The victims’ rights event will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Main Street parking lot that is typically used for the Farmers’ Market during the summer.
It will include a special appearance from U.S. Attorney David Hickton, who oversees the Department of Justice’s district in Western Pennsylvania.
Washington County District Attorney Gene Vittone said he expects Hickton to speak about the advances made by victims’ services programs and partnerships.
“Crime can leave a lasting physical, emotional or financial impact on people of all ages and abilities, and of all economic, racial and social backgrounds,” Vittone said. “I am pleased that we are able to offer these victims some assistance as they are involved in the criminal justice system.”
This year’s theme for National Crime Victims’ Week is called “New Challenges, New Solutions.”
