A Monongahela man was arrested early Friday by Monongahela police after he allegedly fired a shot at his estranged girlfriend and then refused to open the door for police.
Adam C. Wallace, 33, of 517 E. Main St., is accused of firing a shot at Amy O’Neill when she went to his home about 12:15 a.m. to retrieve some of her belongings.
O’Neill told police the two had been in a relationship that she had just terminated. She said she received a text message from Wallace indicating he would burn her items she had left at his home. She sent him a text message that she would come get her belongings.
When she went in the back door of Wallace’s home, he was standing, holding a flashlight and gun, police said. He allegedly put the gun in her face and threatened to shoot her. When she turned to leave, Wallace reportedly fired a shot that hit a woodpile outside his home.
O’Neill said she got in a vehicle to leave, but Wallace came out and slashed the tires. He also reportedly grabbed O’Neill by the waist and dragged her from the vehicle.
Police said that when they arrived, Wallace shut the door and refused to respond. Donora and Carroll Township police were called to assist.
Wallace came outside and dropped the gun after about 45 minutes, police said.
Wallace denied firing a shot at O’Neill.
Wallace was arraigned before District Judge Gary Havelka on charges of aggravated assault, terroristic threats, simple assault, reckless endangerment and harassment. He was placed in the Washington County jail on $20,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is set for April 30 before District Judge Mark Wilson.
