WHEELING, W.Va. – An inspection shows the Wheeling Tunnel is in fair shape three years after the completion of a $14 million renovation project.

Bridge engineer Dave Sada with the state Division of Highways says a consultant found no major problems during the inspection conducted earlier this year.

HDR Engineering examined the tunnel’s ventilation, lighting, tile stability, drainage, road conditions and other potential problems.

Sada tells The Intelligencer and Wheeling News-Register (http://bit.ly/ ) there are some cracked tiles in a few isolated areas. There also is some water seepage that will be monitored.
