Theft from vehicle: Lance Evan of Mercer told state police $800 worth of copper wire was taken from the bed of his welding truck while it was parked at the Red Roof Inn on West Chestnut Street overnight Monday.

Motorcycle theft: Dylan Simpson told Chartiers police his 2006 all-terrain Kawasaki motorcycle was stolen Wednesday night from the back patio of his property on North Main Street in Houston. The green-and-black motorcycle with Monster Energy stickers also had No. 10 decals on the side.

Impersonation alleged: Ashley Greene of Marianna told Chartiers police a white, middle-aged man wearing a blue uniform and driving a tan sport utility vehicle stopped her vehicle as she was entering the Western Area Career and Technology Center in Canonsburg. The incident happened between 7 and 7:15 a.m. Wednesday. Sgt. Mike Filosi asked for anyone in the area at the time to call Chartiers police at 724-745-8030, ext. 215.

Simple assault charge: Josef A. McDonald, 40, of 167 Hunting Creek Road, was charged by North Strabane police with simple assault and harassment following a domestic incident involving his wife early Thursday. According to police documents, McDonald pushed down and punched Lori McDonald, causing reddening and small lacerations on her face. Josef McDonald was arraigned before District Judge Curtis Thomspson and placed in Washington County Jail on $10,000 percentage bond.

Theft from library: A digital camera stored in a filing cabinet in a locked room was stolen from the Peters Township Public Library between July 18 and 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, township police said.

94-year-old cited: A 94-year-old North Strabane Township woman received a citation for retail theft Wednesday after she stole a four-pack of coffee cups, cookies and a National Enquirer from Kmart on Washington Road, township police said. The summary offense is Mary V. Soffel’s first, police said. However, she has been observed shoplifting at least three times previously, police said. Her son, Wallace Soffel, 57, also of Old Meadow Road, received a citation for disorderly conduct after police said he entered the store and began to yell and scream at customers, police said.

Attempted assault reported: A 17-year-old township girl appeared with her mother at the police station at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday to say she was accosted by two men in the parking lot of the Donaldsons Crossroads shopping center after 5 p.m., township police said.The girl said a white male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt grabbed her by the shoulder. She described the man as about 6 feet tall and in his 20s. The girl told police she was able to get into her car and as she was backing out of the parking spot, she saw another man on the passenger side of her car who attempted to enter and broke off the passenger-side mirror, police said. Both men, the girl told police, were wearing blue jeans. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to call police at 724-942-5030 during regular business hours, or 911 after hours.

Bikes stolen: Three bicycles were reported stolen Wednesday from the backyard of a home on Hayes Avenue, city police said. One bike was recovered, and the owners are still searching the area for the remaining bikes.

Equipment stolen: Two hundred feet of welding leads, valued at $600, were reported stolen from a truck between Sunday and Wednesday while it was parked on Delaware Avenue, city police said.
